About the artist

Andres Jonathan Moreira

I’m Andres Jonathan Moreira. I paint from color, memory, movement, and the strange pull of an image that will not leave me alone. I also share the process through video, so the finished work is not separated from the search that made it.

The painting has to feel alive first.

My paintings begin as a reaction: to color, to a memory, to a feeling I cannot quite explain yet. I follow the marks until something starts pushing back. That back-and-forth is where the work becomes alive.

I’m interested in art that feels human. The surface can be bold, playful, strange, or intense, but underneath it I’m chasing something honest: a moment, a mood, a story, a little electricity.

Through YouTube videos, I share the process behind the work: the choices, revisions, accidents, and small discoveries that happen before a painting is finished.

What matters to me is the moment a painting stops being an object and starts feeling like a presence. That can happen through a face, a color, a sports scene, a small symbol, or a mark I did not plan.

The work moves between play and intensity. Some paintings are direct; others feel like they are remembering something. I like that tension.

How I move through a painting.

I do not want the process to feel too clean. I follow the image, push against it, cover parts, bring things back, and keep going until the painting feels honest.

Color First

A palette can set the emotional weather before the subject becomes clear.

Movement Next

Marks, shapes, and rhythm decide how the eye travels through the piece.

Story Last

The story usually arrives after the painting has already started speaking.

The process is part of the work.

Through YouTube and studio videos, I show the work while it is still becoming. The unfinished stages matter to me because they reveal the risk, the doubt, and the decisions hidden inside a finished painting.

Process videos, studio updates, and painting sessions live on my YouTube channel.

Let’s talk about the work.

If a painting catches you, send me a note. Tell me what stayed with you: a color, a face, a scene, a feeling. That is enough to begin.
