The Art of Letting Go

Sometimes, creativity asks us to release our tight grip on perfection. As artists, we’ve all started pieces that never reached completion—not because they weren’t “good enough,” but because they simply didn’t resonate. That disconnect can leave us stuck in our heads, second-guessing every stroke, every choice.

I’ve realized that this often stems from trying to force something that doesn’t feel authentic. When a piece doesn’t align with what I truly want to share with the world, it becomes harder to see it through. But that’s part of the process. Creativity isn’t always smooth sailing. The struggle—the figuring things out as you go—is what shapes us. It’s where the growth happens.

Letting go of unfinished work or unmet expectations doesn’t mean failure. It means recognizing when a piece has taught you all it can and moving forward with the lessons it offered. Creativity is a learning journey, and every attempt—finished or not—adds to our understanding, making the next endeavor more meaningful.
